My name is Leonard Shendo. I was born and raised in Jemez Pueblo. I follow in the tradition of my father, a leather artist and beader. I have worked in the Jemez Pueblo governor's office and as a jack-of-all-trades. Now, I concentrate on my artwork and enjoy teaching the Pueblo children in traditional Jemez beadwork everyday for an hour. My leather work features designs used in the community. I hand mix the paints used on the leather to match the colors in our natural surroundings. I am married, with 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls). I am also proud to be a grandfather of 3.
