My name is Helen T. Dennison. I live in Buffalo Spring, New Mexico. I am originally from Torreon, New Mexico. I am a member of the Navajo tribe. I like to do sewing (quilts, pillows, clothing and mending for other people). I also do beadwork (barrettes, earrings, watchbands and necklaces). I also string beads (necklaces, earrings and bracelets), and sew clothing and accessories for dolls. I primarily sell my work at pow wows and flea markets. I have worked for the Indian Health Services for 33 years. I have also worked as a Foster Care Provider for 1 year and an Adult Foster Care Provider for 2 years. I am now working as an attendant Care Provider with the Medicaid Personal Care Option, working for people with disabilities. I have also helped take care of my daughter-in-law who has a spinal injury (quadriplegic) for the past 17 years. I have arthritis in my hands, which makes my fingers swell and hurt all of the time.
